Steven is a recognized leader and innovator in the long-term care industry. As CEO and co-founder of Signature Senior Living, he and his partners owned, developed, and managed 19 assisted living and memory care residences over 18 years. In 2018, Steven co-founded Pegasus Senior Living with Welltower to manage and turn around 38 properties in 12 states before retiring in 2021.
In 2007, he developed a proprietary software solution for the senior living industry, later selling it to Matrixcare in 2015. Steven also invested in Serene Senior Living Pvt. Limited in India, contributing to the development of nearly 1,000 villas and townhouses. Serene sold its management services company to Columbia Pacific Asia in 2017.
From 2002 to 2005, Steven was President and CEO of Assisted Living Concepts, leading a successful post-bankruptcy transformation that culminated in the company’s sale at a significant premium. Earlier, he co-founded Sterling House Corporation, which merged with Alterra Healthcare Corporation in 1997. Steven served as Alterra’s COO and later as President in 2002.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Wichita State University and practiced as a CPA specializing in health care consulting. Steven has also served on the board of the American Senior Housing Association (ASHA) and was a past Chairman of Argentum.
